VintageDither began with a longing for the worlds that once lived inside an Amiga, a Commodore 64, or a Nintendo. Childhood afternoons spent in front of a glowing screen, where a handful of colours could suggest an entire universe. The strange beauty of Another World, the dark fantasy of Moonstone, and the feeling that something extraordinary was waiting just beyond the edge of the screen.
Created first for a designer’s own artwork, VintageDither grew from a love of those images and the memories they carry. Dithering, limited palettes, and visible pixels became ways to explore how much atmosphere an image could hold, and how much the imagination would happily fill in.
Published by Urdrift and developed through visual experimentation, sustained creative direction, and implementation with the help of AI tools, VintageDither brings that affection into a contemporary workflow. It offers a starting point for others to explore their own memories, find unexpected colours, and make worlds of their own.
